CONCEPT
The story of Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift, combines adventure with savage satire, mocking English customs and the politics of the day. This book cover considers Gulliver’s interaction with the horse-like creatures, Houyhnhnms, and his desires to assimilate into their society. The rocking horse also acts as Trojan Horse, with Gulliver hiding inside, in the hopes to sneak into society.
Finally, Gulliver’s travels to the remote nations of the world, results in a path of never growing or expanding. This plays into the idea of the rocking horse, moving forward and back through the water, but never arriving anywhere.
